Carving retreats

Where is the carving camp located?
The carving camp is held near Newport, Washington. Aaron will provide the exact location and arrival details after registration.
How much does the carving retreat cost?
The one day option is $600. The full two day camp is $1,100 plus a $30 gas and oil fee. Message Aaron to discuss deposit and payment.
What is the difference between the one day and two day options?
The one day option introduces safety, saw control, basic shaping, and guided carving. The two day experience gives you more time for blocking, detail work, furring or feathering, finishing, and completing multiple projects with Aaron's guidance.
Do I need chainsaw carving experience?
No. Beginners are welcome, and intermediate carvers can use the retreat to strengthen their technique and confidence.
What equipment is provided?
Echo chainsaws are provided for training, along with required safety equipment including safety glasses, chaps, ear protection, gloves, and more.
What should I bring?
Wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Bring a jacket when the weather requires it. A notebook is also helpful for recording techniques, measurements, and project notes.
What ages can attend?
Participants age 15 and older are welcome. Anyone under 18 needs parent authorization.
Can I purchase a carving camp as a gift?
Yes. When the retreat is purchased as a gift, full payment is required at the time of booking.

Can Aaron carve an existing stump on my property?
Yes. Custom stump carving is one of Aaron's primary services. Send a clear photo of the stump, its approximate height and diameter, your location, and your design idea to begin the conversation.
How do I request a custom carving estimate?
Text Aaron at (509) 591 5512 with photographs, approximate dimensions, your city and state, and a description of what you would like carved. Aaron will review the wood, design, travel needs, and level of detail before preparing an estimate.
What affects the cost of a custom carving?
Pricing depends on the size of the piece, design complexity, condition of the wood, travel, installation needs, coloring, and finishing.
Where does Chavez Carving work?
Aaron serves the greater Spokane region and projects across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Travel availability depends on the project and schedule.
Does Aaron offer demonstration carves?
Yes. Demonstration carves are available for festivals, community events, celebrations, and public gatherings. Contact Aaron with the event location, date, audience, and available carving space.
